Girl Power
Girl Power, an initiative led by the Performing Arts Society of Acadiana, is dedicated to making a difference in girls' lives. Girl Power is a collaborative program that encourages girls ages 11-13 to make positive choices by Becoming, Belonging, Believing and Building.Girl Power Overview
Identical programs will be presented to three groups of 15 girls. The programs are presented on two consecutive Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. In order to be a part of Girl Power, an application must be completed and turned in to one of the collaborating agencies listed at left. If accepted into the program, each girl is required to pay a participation fee of $25. Financial assistance is available. Enrollment is limited to 45 Girl Power girls, so applications should be made as early as possible. The next program enrollment will be announced soon.

Beyond Body Talk by Woman's Foundation
— Identify anatomical features and proper terminology
— Present fundamentals of the menstrual cycle
— Discuss sexual intercourse, fertilization, development and birth of a baby
Self-esteem by Girl Scouts-Bayou Council
Explore the four areas that characterize self-worth:
— self-awareness
— feelings
— personal space
— self-discipline
Making Decisions and Setting Goals by Lisa LeBlanc
— Discover the importance of informed decisions, values and goals
Career Exploration by Girl Scouts-Bayou Council
— Match interests and goals with likes and dislikes to determine possible careers
Arts Appreciation by Performing Arts Society of Acadiana
— Exposure to the performing arts, related job opportunities, and performance etiquette
